Synergy is sending out emails to users about an incident on one of its servers. The company says an attacker reached one of it’s server on 5 December and caused the server to crash and restart. The attacker abused unpatched security vulnerability.
Synergy says the attack did not leak any customer data. According to the Synergy’s email, all users account information, including email addresses and password hashes are stored in a separate database that was not affected. They also say they checked application, network, and database logs and did not see any signs of data access or copying.

Synergy says the attack caused the server to fail, which led to some service interruptions. Checkout and a few other features stayed down for almost a day while the team rebuilt the server and patched the problem.
The company says they fixed the network issue that allowed the access and patched the software flaw on the affected system. They repeat that no customer data was viewed or taken.
Synergy is a popular app that lets users share one mouse and keyboard across several computers and screens. The company says no action is needed from users at this time.
