About JWT
What is JWT?
JSON Web Token (JWT) is a compact, URL-safe means of representing claims between two parties. It consists of three parts: Header, Payload, and Signature.
Common Claims
- iss (Issuer) - Who issued the token
- sub (Subject) - Who the token is about
- aud (Audience) - Who the token is for
- exp (Expiration) - When the token expires
- iat (Issued At) - When the token was issued
Security Note
JWTs are encoded, not encrypted. Anyone can decode and read the payload. Never store sensitive data in JWT payloads.
